REPRESENTATIONS IN FILM OPENINGS

Representation in films means how different groups of people and important topics are shown. For example:

Movies often show characters from various backgrounds like different races, LGBTQ+ people, women, and those with disabilities.

These portrayals can either break stereotypes and show diversity or make stereotypes stronger.

Movies also talk about important issues like racism, sexism, poverty, and mental health. They can:

Make people more aware of these issues

Start conversations about them

Show problems with how society works.

Why does this matter?

It helps us understand different people and issues better.

It can make us think differently about the world.

It can change how society sees and treats different groups of people.

For example: The opening scene of "The Good Doctor" represents diversity and challenges. It introduces Dr. Shaun Murphy, a surgical resident with autism. Shaun's portrayal challenges stereotypes about autism and shows his struggle to fit in at the hospital. This scene sets up the theme of acceptance and understanding of differences throughout the series.

And here are some of the social issues that are mostly represented in our media:

1- Poverty

2- Abuse

3- Harassments

4- Political corruption

5- Healthcare shortage

6- Displacement

7- Housing crisis

8- Gender discrimination

9- Child labor
